Property Address

The Web mapping application may allow you to search and find features of interest to you. The searching tools that are available will depend on how your application is configured.

Find Task

The website may enable you to search one or more layers for text that you enter, to find an address, or to search for places using a Web database. The administrator of the website determines the types of searches available.

  1. The find  address task can be displayed by clicking on Property Address in the menu area.

  2. The Property Address task opens in a new dialog window within the mapping application. This dialog window may not be moved or collapsed. However, it can be closed by clicking the button.

  3. Enter the address you want to search for in the input box of the task window. An example is available by hovering over the text window.

  4. Special Address Substitution.
    Farm Road = FR.         Example: 8100 N Farm Road 245 = 8100 N FR245

    State Highway = SH   Example: 8600 E State Highwy D = 8600 E SHD

    U.S. Highway = US     Example: 200 W  US Highway 60 = 200 W US60

    Park Central Square Addresses must be entered with "parkcentral" as one word and "sq" as the street type. 

    Example: 103 E. Park Central Square = 103  E Parkcentral Sq

  5. Click the dialog submit button (Find) to start the search.

  6. The Results section expands in the Console to display results of the search (if it does not expand automatically, click the down-arrow in the Results section to display it). The text searched for displays in the results item.

  7. If features are found, a plus button Treeview plus button appears next to the results item. Click the plus button to expand and explore the results. The example below shows one possible result of a search using Find. Due to the candidate scoring settings of the address locator, multiple addresses may be returned to the results window. Right click on the the address you wish to see and click "Pan to" or "Zoom to" to move the map to that address.
     
  8. Street intersections can also be found with the "Property Address" tool. To locate a street intersection type in the street names seperated by the "&". Also, the street direction or street type must be included.

    Example: The intersection of Kearney St. and Glenstone Ave.   =  E Kearney & N Glenstone   or   Kearney St & Glenstone Ave

  9. The results display one or more layers where features are found. Click the plus button next to a layer to display features found. For more details on using the Results window, see Using Results.
